Joe Wegwerth begins his second season as an assistant coach for the Bemidji State Men's Hockey team with the start of the 2025-26 season. He has spent a total of three seasons with the Beavers after previously serving as a volunteer assistant and video coordinator in 2023-24 before being promoted to an assistant coach at the start of the 2024-25 season.
Wegwerth directly assists the Beaver coaching staff with recruiting and skill development within the program.
Originally from Brewster, N.Y., Wegwerth earned his Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Notre Dame in 2019 where he was also a member of the university's men's hockey program for four seasons and was a two-time Hockey East Academic Team selection. Following college he began a professional hockey career with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL playing for the team for parts of two seasons.
