GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The Bemidji State University
soccer team traveled to Grand Forks today for a non-conference
match-up with the University of North Dakota. The Beavers
were shut out by the Fighting Sioux 5-0.
UND got on the board first when in the fifth minute of play
Stephanie Pfeiffer beat the Bemidji State goaltender Niki
Dalka on a header from Kelsie Niezwaag. The Sioux would head
into the locker room at halftime up 2-0 after Pfeiffer netted
her second goal of the game in the 37th minute.
The University of North Dakota would pour it on in the first
15 minutes of the second half scoring three goals in a matter
of six minutes.
April Bielejeski would score her second and third goals of
the season. Her first goal of the game came in the 54th minute
on a pass from Dana Perry and the second was an unassisted
goal just five minutes later (59th). Perry would add an unassisted
goal of her own in the 60th minute to put the Sioux up 5-0.
In the game two UND goaltenders teamed up to shut the Beavers
out. Ashley Salberg was in goal for the first 78 minutes of
the match and Chantelle Rasmussen took over for the final
12 minutes. BSU did not record any shots on goal.
BSU goaltender Dalka recorded 19 saves in the game. It was
her second highest save total of the season and ranks only
behind a 21 save effort Oct. 1 when BSU faced Jamestown College.
Dalka now has 176 saves on the season and ranks No. 1 in career
saves for the Beavers with 594. The total places her fifth
all-time among NCAA Division II athletes.
The Beavers are 4-11 on the season and are 1-8 in the NSIC.
They will be back in action tomorrow when they travel to Fargo,
N.D. to face the North Dakota State University Bison (8-8-1)
in a 12:00 start.
