WAYNE, Neb. (Rice Auditorium) - The Bemidji State University volleyball team dropped its final match of the week to Wayne State College, 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-12), at the Rice Auditorium in Wayne, Neb.

The Beavers were overmatched versus the Wildcats managing to muster under half the number of kills that WSC put up while hitting .291 points below its high velocity offense.

Bemidji State posted 21 kills in the match and were led by Jennifer Janckila (Sr., MB, Appleton, Wis.) who turned in a five-kill afternoon. Lyndsey Weyer (So., OH, Loyal, Wis.) and Laura Slinger (Fr., OH, Faribault, Minn.) each chipped in four kills for the Beavers. Slinger’s .231 hitting percentage (4k-1e-13at) paced a team that hit a season low .021 (21k-19e-96at) in the loss.

The Beavers’ passing game was led by Weyer for the second time this season netting nine digs as BSU posted the third lowest defensive save total of the season with 30--only a 22-dig effort versus the University of Manitoba (Sept. 5) and a 27-dig effort versus Minnesota Duluth Sept. 12 stands as a lower team passing total this fall.

Heather Sampson (So., OH, Brooklyn Park, Minn.) and Janckila each collected two blocks on the night.

The Wildcats were led by Brittany Van Beek who recorded a match-high 11 kills and hit .318 to lead the Wildcats to a .312 hitting percentage on the night (44k-14e-96at). Mindy Moody and Jennifer Hefner led the Wildcats at the net as they combined for six blocks for a team total nine on the night.

Jenna Jansen assisted on 31 of WSC’s 44 kills while Meredy Dubbs posted a match-high 13 digs.

WSC improves to 14-3 on the year and is 4-3 in league play. The Wildcats also increased their lead over BSU in the all-time series to 18-2 and have won the last nine meetings between the teams.

Bemidji State (6-13; 2-5 NSIC) returns to Bemidji, Minn. for three matches to continue the 2008 home portion of their schedule. The Beavers welcome No. 13 Minnesota Duluth to the BSU Gymnasium Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. to kick off the home stand and will host No. 1 Concordia University, St. Paul Friday at 7 p.m. The Beavers finish with a 4 p.m., Oct. 11 affair versus St. Cloud State.
