Complete game from BSU Football earns 59-14 victory in Beaver Battle

Bemidji State Football scores season-high 59 points in victory at Minot State

MINOT, N.D. – The Bemidji State University football team dominated in all facets of the game Saturday afternoon in Minot, N.D., after the Beavers scored a season-high 59 points and allowed a season-low 14 points in a 59-14 victory against Minot State University.
 
With the win, the Beavers improve to 3-2 and 1-0 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference North Division and have now won three games in a row.
 
The Beavers totaled a season-high 606 yards on offense, the most since they totaled 695 yards against University of Mary Nov. 13, 2021. 442 of those yards came through the air including 298 from junior quarterback Brandon Alt while Sam McGath threw for 133 yards after subbing in late in the game.
 
The Beavers' "Gang-Green" defense also held Minot State to just 250 yards on offense, the second-lowest total for the Beavers including a season-low 42 rushing yards allowed.
 
After leading 14-7 with just three minutes left in the first half, BSU went on to out-score Minot State 45-7 the remainder of the game.
 
Alt was 15-for-27 on the day with 298 yards and threw for four touchdowns, all of which were in the first half. He was substituted for Sam McGath who went 3-for-4 with a career-high 133 yards and one touchdown while Cade Baumgardner came in late and completed one pass for 11 yards.
 
Bemidji State totaled 164 yards on the ground in the game, the second-most this season, with Jalen Frye leading the way after rushing for 98 yards on 16 attempts and scored one touchdown. He was followed by Jarrett Gronski who rushed for 48 yards on eight attempts and Sage Booker who rushed for 34 yards also on eight attempts.
 
Dhel Duncan-Busby and Brendan Beauliey each totaled over 100 yards receiving in the game with Duncan-Busby lead the Beaves after totaling 136 yards on five receptions and two touchdowns including one for 62-yards. Beaulieu followed with 130 yards on five receptions and caught one touchdown pass while Jake Hill totaled a career-best 74 yards and had one touchdown.
 
Hill finished the game with 145 all-purpose yards after leading the Beavers' special teams with 71 punt-return yards.
 
On defense, Cole Sorby led the Beavers with six tackles while Jarrett Klein, Spencer Wehr and Ryan Schnobrich each added five. The Beavers totaled five sacks in the game and were led by Zollie Kaplan who totaled two. Caleb Yound and Klein each recorded an interception with Young taking his 80-yards to the house for the defensive touchdown in the third quarter.
 
Bemidji State will make its return to Chet Anderson Stadium next Saturday and hosts Concordia University-St. Paul for the annual Hall of Fame/Shrine Game. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
