BEMIDJI, Minn. – No. 5/4 University of Wisconsin scored 1:40 into the opening period on the Bemidji State University Women's Hockey team and used the early lead to cruise to an 8-0 victory over the Beavers. The Beavers now fall to 2-6-1 on the season and 0-5-0 in Western Collegiate Hockey Association play.

Wisconsin (8-1-0, 5-0-0 WCHA) scored four goals in the first, three in the second and then added one more in the third period to earn the 8-0 victory and out-shot the Beavers 45-10 in the game.

All goals were scored by different goal scorers in the game and Kirsten Simms, Lacey Eden and Laila Edwards each had three assists.

Junior
Hannah Hogenson started the game in between the pipes and made 15 saves before being replaced after the Badgers sixth goal of the game by sophomore
Abbie Thompson. Thompson came into the game and made 22 saves while allowing just two goals.

Bemidji State and Wisconsin will meet again tomorrow night for game two at 7:00 p.m.
