MADISON, Wis. – No. 5/4 University of Wisconsin earned the series sweep over the Bemidji State University women's hockey team Friday night as the Badgers (9-1-0, 6-0-0 WCHA) skated to a 7-1 victory. Junior
Gabbie Smith spoiled the Badgers attempt at back-to-back shutouts by scoring with just 1:03 to play in the third period.
Bemidji State falls to 2-7-1 (0-6-0 WCHA) with the loss.
The Beavers were out-shot 39-17 in the game with junior
Hannah Hogenson playing all 60 minutes and making 32 saves. She falls to 1-7-1 on the season.
The Beavers now return home to begin a four-game home stand and face their first non-ranked opponent since Sept. 24 by hosting Minnesota State University, Mankato at Sanford Center Friday, Oct. 28 and Saturday.
