BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University volleyball team were unable to overcome the fourth-ranked University of Minnesota, Duluth Bulldogs 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-14) in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play Saturday afternoon. The Beavers (3-20, 2-13 NSIC) were led by junior
Hallie Mertz with eight kills, though the Beaver swould only tally 28 kills to the Bulldogs' (21-2, 13-2 NSIC) 47 in the match.

On the attack
Rylie Bjerklie finished one behind Mertz with seven kills and
Ashley East rounded out the top three with four. The Beavers hit .185 in the match with each set being better than the last (.143, .200, .217). Leading the way for the Beavers was Bjerklie hitting .385 in her 13 attacks. Assisting the Beavers' attack were
Hally Holker and
Emily Wade tallying 16 and 11 assists, respectively. BSU also had two aces in the match coming from Bjerklie and freshman
Jada Wlodarczyk.

On defense, Wlodarczyk led the team with seven digs and Mertz and Holker finished second on the team with four a-piece. The Beavers out blocked the Bulldogs seven-to-six with
Zayda Priebe leading the team with three.

The Beavers have a short turn around with their next match Tuesday, Oct. 25 at University of Minnesota, Crookston at 6:00 p.m. Â
