Mavericks salvage series split with Beavers after 3-0 win Saturday

Beavers held off scoreboard Saturday afternoon against Minnesota State

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University women's hockey team was held off the scoreboard Saturday afternoon as Minnesota State University, Mankato earned the Western Collegiate Conference series split with a 3-0 victory at Sanford Center.
 
Minnesota State's Alexa Berg kept the Beavers off the scoreboard after stopping all 27 shots and BSU now falls to 3-8-1 (1-7-0) on the season.
 
After a scoreless first period, Minnesota State (3-7-0, 3-7-0 WCHA) scored all three goals in the game in a span of 58 seconds. Sydney Langseth started the scoring at 11:31 of the second period and just 10 seconds later, Taylor Otremba made it 2-0 and just 48 seconds after that Charlotte Akervik made it 3-0.
 
The Beavers never recovered and fell 3-0 to the Mavericks.
 
Shots were even in the game at 27 a piece despite the Beavers out-shooting MSU 11-3 in the first period.
 
Junior Hannah Hogenson made 24 saves for the Beaves in the game but falls to 2-8-1 on the season.
 
The Beavers remain home in their next action and host St. Cloud State University for a WCHA series at Sanford Center, Nov. 4-5.
