Beavers offense breaks out in 3-0 victory over Upper Iowa

BSU Soccer ties season-high in goals on Senior Day

BEMIDJI, Minn. – On a day that saw the Bemidji State University women's soccer team honor its seniors, the Beavers' offense exploded for a 3-0 win over Upper Iowa University to tie a season-high for goals. Graduate student Allyson Smith, junior Lauren Hodny and fifth-year senior Erin Becker all scored goals for the Beavers (7-2-4, 6-1-3 NSIC).

Smith opened the scoring for the Beavers in the 27th minute with her third goal of the season and was assisted by Becker. Just seven minutes later, Hodny scored her first collegiate goal in the 34th minute to put the Beavers up 2-0 before the end of the first half.

Bemidji State then made it 3-0 when Becker capitalized on a penalty kick for her fourth goal of the season and third point of the game.

The Beavers dominated offensively seeming to possess the ball in their half for most of the game and out-shot the Peacocks (2-8-3, 1-5-3 NSIC) 24-4 in the game and 11-1 in shots on goal. BSU Also earned eight corner kicks in the game to just one for UIU.

Senior Georgiana Harber earned the shutout in goal for her second of the season and third of her career and improves to 2-0-1 on the season.

Bemidji State now sits third in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference standings with a 6-1-3 league record behind Minnesota State University, Mankato and Minot State University.

The Beavers begin a three-game road trip next weekend and travel to Southwest Minnesota State University and University of Sioux Falls next Friday and Saturday.
