BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University volleyball team fell to Minnesota State University, Moorhead in five sets (16-25, 26-24, 26-24, 22-25 10-15) after going up 2-1 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play, Friday night. The Beavers (4-23, 3-16 NSIC) recorded a new season high with 64 kills, freshman
Tiara Diamond led the team with a new career high of 14.

The Dragons (8-19, 5-14 NSIC) started the match hot converting on .414 percent of attacks, their best of the night. BSU responded strong starting set two with a six-point run to take the early 7-1 led. MSU Moorhead was able to climb out of the hole to force Bemidji State to win 26-24. The Beavers tallied 16 kills hitting .22 percent. BSU followed it up with their best set of the night hitting .226 to MSU Moorhead's .143 and only recording three errors in the 50-point set. The following set the Beavers recorded the greatest number of kills is one set for both team with 17 but, with the Dragons only committing four errors to BSU's 10, MSU Moorhead forced set five. MSUM started set five fast and did not look back ending the match with a 15-10 set victory.Â

Along with Diamond four other Beavers were able to record double digit kills;
Ashley East (13),
Hallie Mertz (12) and
Rylie Bjerklie (11). BSU were able to score with the help of
Hally Holker and
Emily Wade setting up the points. The pair finished with 31 and 24 respectively. The most efficient at the net was freshman
Zayda Priebe converting on four of her nine attacks, behind her was East hitting .306 percent on the night. Off the server the Beavers recorded six aces coming from Diamond (2, career high), Bjerklie (2), Mertz (1) and Holker (1).

On defense, four Beavers were able to come away with over 10 digs. Leading the way for BSU was junior
Madison Weyker with 27 breaking her career high by seven. Mertz finished with 20 digs her second career best and setting another career high was Diamond with 14. Holker rounded out the four with 11. At the net the Beavers were able to stop four Dragon attacks. Leading the team was Priebe getting apart of 3 and Mertz with 2. East, Bjerklie and
Lauren Sitter were also able to get their hands on one.Â

The Beavers will wrap up their 2022 season tomorrow as they face Northern State University at 4 p.m. as the seniors of the team will recognized before the match.
