Box Score BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State Women's Hockey team was shutout, 5-0, by Minnesota State University Mankato this afternoon to end WCHA regular season action.
Minnesota State spread out their goal scoring between the second and third periods, marking three in the second period and two in the third. A major penalty called late in the third period on Makenna Deering set the Mavericks up for a pair of power-play goals just under one minute apart. The Beavers were unable to bounce back and ultimately fell, 5-0.
BSU sophomore goaltender Hannah Hogenson tallied 25 saves with five goals for a .833 save percentage. Her teammates took some pressure off with 10 MSU shots blocked in the game, but it wasn't enough for the Beavers who finish the regular season 11-18-3 and 8-18-2 in the WCHA.
Next weekend, the Beavers will begin WCHA playoff competition. BSU, who are sixth in WCHA standings, will take on University of Wisconsin, who sits in third place, in Madison, Wisc. The Beavers previously lost to the Badgers in one shootout game and three regulation games earlier this season.
