MARQUETTE, Mich. – The No. 9 Bemidji State University women's soccer team played to a 3-3 draw at (RV) Northern Michigan University Friday afternoon to begin the weekend's non-conference action.

Katrina Barthelt and
Erin Becker each scored for the Beavers with Barthelt marking her first collegiate goal.

The Wildcats opened the game in the eighth minute when Brenna Musser scored her second goal of the season. The Beavers responded quickly however, when Smith scored in the 19
th minute for BSU's first goal of the season and her 27
th career goal to move within three of Becky Elk (1999-01) for sixth on BSU's all-time career goal scoring list.

The Wildcats quickly recovered and retook the one-goal lead in the 30
th minute when Caitlyn Trombley scored her first goal of the season. NMU would enter the half with the 2-1 lead but in the 67
th minute, Barthelt equalized the game with her first career goal.

Just seven minutes later, BSU's
Erin Becker would draw a foul within the penalty area and put the Beavers up 3-2 with a penalty kick goal. However, in the 81
st minute, Justina L'Esperance tied the game at 3 with her team-leading third goal of the season.

Neither team could find the go-ahead goal in the remaining eight minutes and would add a tie to their records.

Senior goalkeeper
Alyssa Stumbaugh recorded five saves in the game including four in the first half while her counterpart, Shane Kreps, made one save.

Bemidji State is now 0-1-1 on the season and will travel 100 miles to face Michigan Technological University Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
