Alyssa Stumbaugh made a career-high 10 saves and fifth-year senior
Sara Wendt scored the lone goal in the 20
th minute to propel the Bemidji State University women's soccer team to a 1-0 win at Michigan Technological University for its first win of the 2022 season.

Wendt scored her first goal of the season and the 36
th of her career to pull within second on BSU's all-time career goal scoring list. Stumbaugh and the Beavers' defense took over from there and blanked the Huskies (2-2-0) for the team's first shutout of the season. She turned aside all 10 shots she faced for a new career-high including four in the second half.

Michigan Tech out-shot the Beavers 10-4 in the game and totaled 10 corner kicks to just two for BSU but the Beavers' defense didn't falter to capture the first win of season.

Bemidji State now improves to 1-1-1 at the end of non-conference play and heading into Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action next weekend. The Beavers will host their first two home matches of the season when they face Northern State University and Minnesota State University, Moorhead Sept. 9 and 11 at Chet Anderson Stadium.
