Bemidji State Soccer returns home and hosts MSU-Moorhead and Northern State

Beavers put nine-match unbeaten streak against Dragons and Wolves

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Women's Soccer team makes its return to Chet Anderson Stadium this weekend and plays host to Minnesota State University, Moorhead and Northern State University in more Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action.
 
The Beavers (6-0-3, 4-0-1 NSIC) put their conference leading nine-match unbeaten streak up against the Dragons (1-5-4, 0-2-4 NSIC) Friday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. The Beavers host the conference leading Wolves (5-2-2, 4-0-2 NSIC) Sunday at 1 p.m., in a battle of two of the top three teams in the NSIC standings entering the weekend.
 
The weekend will be Parents Weekend for Beaver Soccer parents and Bemidji State will recognize its devoted parents Sunday against the Wolves.
 
Both matches will be streamed live on NSICNetwork.com/bsubeavers and play-by-play audio will be provided by the Beaver Radio Network online and on the radio at FM 106.3 Friday and FM 94.3 Sunday.
 
Bemidji State Notes
  • Bemidji State is one of 15 teams in Division II remaining with an unbeaten record.
  • Depite a loss-less record, the Beavers dropped out of the United Soccer Coaches top-25 poll this week and failed to receive any votes.
  • The Beavers enter the weekend tied for third in the NSIC standings with 13 points and are 4-0-1 in conference play. They trail conference leaders Minnesota State University, Mankato and Northern State by just one point.
  • Bemidji State is coming off a 1-0-1 weekend last week and tied Southwest Minnesota State University 1-1 despite a 2.5 hour lightning delay that forced the match to be spread out over Friday-Saturday. The Beavers rallied to defeat Winona State University 2-1 Sunday on short rest.
  • Katrina Barthelt, Madeline Davey and Sylve Waters all scored for the Beavers over the weekend with Waters scoring the game-winning goal against the Warriors.
  • Barthelt leads the Beavers in scoring with 14 points off six goals and two assists and had her four-match goal scoring streak snapped Sunday against the Warriors.
  • She leads the conference in goals and points.
  • She is followed by freshman Madeline Davey who has posted seven points off three goals and an assist and junior Maria Stocke who has six points off three goals.
  • Bemidji State has seen nine different goal scorers this season, the most in the NSIC and paces the league with 19 goals scored.
  • The Beavers defense is one of the best in Division II and is second in the NSIC with five shutouts and is tied for 11th in the nation.
  • Bemidji State has allowed just four goals all season, the second fewest in the NSIC.
  • Junior Edie Frantzen is tied for second in the NSIC with five shutouts and ranks second in goals against average (.286) and t-fifth in save percentage (.833).
  • Bemidji State is 20-13-1 all-time against MSUM and have won the last four matches and is 9-1-0 over the last 10.
  • The Beavers are 15-14-3 all-time against Northern State, have won their last seven matches versus the Wolves and are also 9-1-0 over the last 10.
