BEMIDJI, Minn. – Two of the top three teams in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate women's soccer standings did battle Sunday afternoon at Chet Anderson Stadium with Bemidji State University hosting Northern State University. The match was a tightly contested one and ended in a 1-1 draw after each team netted goals in the second half.

With the draw, the Beavers remain undefeated on the season holding a 7-0-4 record and garner one point in the NSIC standings and remains in third place, one point behind the Wolves (6-2-3, 5-0-3 NSIC).

The two teams were locked in a defensive contest in the first half with each team trading possession. Neither team could break through the other's defenses and were still locked at 0-0 after the first 45 minutes.

Bemidji State was the first to break through in the second half when senior
Lauren Hodny dribbled the ball past a few Wolves defenders and scored on a beautiful shot from just inside the penalty area to score her first goal of the season in the 53
rd minute

However, just over seven minutes later, Northern State's Megan Fastenau fired a shot that had sights for the left upper 90 that junior goalkeeper
Edie Frantzen could not get to in time to even the score at one.

Bemidji State pressed in the final 30 minutes but could not score the go-ahead goal for the second time.

BSU out-paced the Wolves totaling 12 shots to eight while six were on goal for the Beavers and two for NSU.

Bemidji State now hits the road for a travel weekend at University of Mary and Minot State University Friday, Oct. 13 and Sunday. BSU will first face Mary in Bismarck, N.D., then travel to Minot, N.D., for another Beaver Battle.
