BEMIDJI, Minn. - Lake Superior State University skated to a 6-1 victory over the Bemidji State University Men's Hockey team Saturday night to even their Central Collegiate Hockey Association series at Sanford Center.
The Lakers (8-9-1, 5-6-1 CCHA) scored four-unanswered goals to start the game before the Beavers (6-10-0, 5-5-0 CCHA) found their legs and scored their lone goal of the game.
Fifth-year senior
Carter Jones scored the Beavers' goal 17:43 into the second period for his third of the series and third of the season. He was assisted by
Austin Jouppi and
Mitch Wolfe with Jouppi earning his fourth assist of the series and eighth of the season.
Bemidji State out-shot the Lakers 28-23 in the game but LSSU netminder Ethan Langenegger came up with some big saves turning aside 27-of-28 shots he faced. Senior
Gavin Enright earned the loss in the game falling to 6-8-0 on the season after allowing six goals on 20 shots. He was replaced 8:37 into the third period by freshman
Raythan Robbins who stopped all three shots he faced in the remaining 11:23.
BSU earned two power plays in the game coming up empty on both opportunities while the Lakers scored on their only power play.
Bemidji State will look to rebound next Thursday and Friday and remains at home for a CCHA series against Bowling Green State University, Dec. 14-15.
