SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Bemidji State University Baseball team fell in both games of its doubleheader against No. 22 Minnesota State University, Mankato Tuesday afternoon in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action in Sioux City, Iowa. The Beavers fell 17-1 and 18-4 in two seven-inning games.
The Beavers fall to 2-23 on the season and 1-9 in NSIC play while the Mavericks improved to 17-5 and 7-1 in league play.
Bemidji State collected six hits in game one against the Mavericks including two from
Ty Karger who finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate. The Beavers' lone run in the game came in the seventh inning when
Tyrese Allen drew a bases loaded walk for his second RBI of the season.
Derek Hoffman earned the loss on the mound (0-2) after pitching 2.2 innings and allowed four runs off two hits, walked four and struck out a career-high four batters.
Riley Bersaw, Konrad Ksich and
Cam McRoberts all came into pitch in relief.
Bemidji State earned seven hits in the second game of the day and was led by
Logan Barrick who went 2-for-3 with a run scored and
Jackson Schaffer who also finished 2-for-3 at the plate. Karger also went 1-for-3 with a double and freshman
Riley Czech scored three of the Beavers' four runs in the game with his first career home run in the seventh inning.
Ethan VanDelinder drove in the other BSU run with a fielder's choice RBI in his first appearance of the season.
Isaiah Biehn earned the loss (0-4) after pitching 1.2 innings and allowed nine runs off eight hits while walking two and striking out two.

Ethan Lung and
Christian Lindow all made relief appearances.
Bemidji State will now return home and prepare to host Augustana University for a three-game series scheduled for Saturday, April 1-2.
