Mustangs capture series sweep over Beavers with 6-0 victory in series final

BSU Baseball returns home for rare home series against St. Cloud State Wednesday

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Baseball team fell 6-0 Monday afternoon in game three of its Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference series at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minn. The Beavers (2-39, 1-25 NSIC) fell in all three games of their series with the Mustangs (21-11, 13-9 NSIC) and now return home for a mid-week home series with St. Cloud State University Wednesday at the BSU Baseball Field.
 
Bemidji State totaled six hit in the game but failed to produce a run leaving six runners on base and left three stranded in scoring position.
 
Freshman Riley Bersaw (0-7) pitched four innings allowing just one run off three hits before the Mustangs scored three runs off four hits in the fifth inning and added two more in the sixth before senior Konrad Kisch replaced Bersaw after the first two batters in the sixth and closed out the final three innings.
 
Sophomore Hunter Daymond and junior Jack Munson each led the Beavers at the plate going 2-for-4 with Munson hitting a double. Freshman Jackson Schaffer also doubled in the game and finished the day 1-for-4 while Wyatt Hamann went 1-for-3 with a single and walk.
 
Bersaw pitched 5.0 innings earning the loss after he allowed six runs off nine hits, walked three and struck out four. Kisch was impressive as a reliever and allowed 0 runs and just one hit in three innings of work while striking out one.
 
SMSU's Kolby Kiser (3-1) earned the win for the Mustagns after pitching 7.0 innings of shutout baseball and allowed five hits. He was replaced by Kove Lovell in the eighth inning who pitched 2.0 innings and allowed just one hit.
 
Bemidji State now returns home and will host St. Cloud State for a doubleheader at the BSU Baseball Field Wednesday, April 26. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
