BROOKFIELD, Ill. – Ty Cobb and Marcus Hansen landed on yet another All-America list, this time by Don Hansen. Cobb was selected to the second team, with Hansen being named honorable mention.
The Don Hansen team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published Don Hanse's National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988.
The accolades have rolled in for both Cobb and Hansen this postseason. Cobb was recently named to the D2Football.com Elite 100 Team, after being selected a First Team All-American by both D2CCA and Associated Press. In addition, Cobb was named to the All-Super Region 4 team and All-NSIC being selected First Team in each instance. He was also a finalist for the Gene Upshaw Award coming in sixth. Cobb started all 12 games this season and helped an offense average 30.50 points per game and 399.2 total yards per game. He was named to the All-NSIC First Team once again this season and finishes his career starting 38 straight games. In over 1,400 pro snaps, Cobb allowed only four sacks throughout his career.
Hansen was also mentioned on the D2Football.com Elite 100 team among his list of awards. Hansen took home All-America honors from the Associated Press being named to the Second Team and was the NSIC Defensive Player of the Year. In addition he was a First Team D2CCA All-Super Region 4 selection and was a finalist for the Cliff Harris Award. Hansen led the conference in tackles for loss and sacks during the regular season. He started all 12 games and finished with 19 tackles for loss and 10 sacks, along with 51 tackles, 31 solo stops. Hansen forced three fumbles and had eight quarterback hurries. Hansen had a tackle for loss in 11 games, with multiple tackles for loss in six games with a high of four. He added a sack in seven games.
