SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Bemidji State University Beaver Volleyball fell 3-1 to the University of Sioux Falls Saturday evening. The Beavers are now 5-9 overall with a 0-6 record in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Play.
A close first set, won 25-22 by the Cougars, sparked the Beavers heading into the second set. The Green & White evened the scoreboard with a 25-20 second set win heading into the third frame. Struggling in the third, the Beavers allowed the Cougars a 25-16 win in the third followed by the match winning 25-22 fourth set.
Graduate student
Rylie Bjerklie led the Beavers with 14 points off seven kills and four service aces. Following Bjerklie in points,
Lauren Sitter grabbed 12.5 and
Ashley Crowl marked 11. Sitter led the Beavers with 12 kills, and a .375 hitting percentage, marking 24 attempts with just three errors.
Emily Wade marked 33 assists for the Beavers, along with her three kills.
Defensively, Wade led the Beavers with 13 digs, but the statistic was evenly spread with
Jada Wlodarczyk grabbing 10 and Crowl marking seven of her own. Bjerklie tallied three solo blocks on the evening to lead the Beavers. Following her lead,
Zayda Priebe marked 1.5, one solo and one assisted, and
Lily Riese marked one solo.
The Beavers now prepare to host University of Minnesota Crookston on Oct. 17 at the BSU Gymnasium. Tickets are available online at
