WAYNE, Neb. – Bemidji State University soccer tied Friday afternoon's match at Wayne State College. A goal from senior
Emma Huelsnitz early in the match propelled the Beavers to an early lead, but a goal in the 80
th minute from WSC finished the match at 1-1.
The Beavers dominated the first half of play, shutting out the Wildcats 1-0.
Emma Huelsnitz got the team on the board in the 24
th minute of play, assisted by
Maria Stocke. This marked Huelsnitz's second goal of the season and fourth of her career. The Beavers marked four shots on goal during the first half while the Wildcats tallied two on BSU goalkeeper
Sonia Alfieri.
Wayne State was able to bounce back from the deficit late in the game at the 80
th minute, tying the match at one goal each. Alfieri marked four saves during the second half, totaling six for the match and just one goal against. The Beavers were given many free kick opportunities throughout the match with the Wildcats committing seven fouls against the Beavers' four.
The Beavers will now make the trip back north to Sioux Falls, S.D. to take on Augustana University on Sunday. Following the weekend, the Beavers return home for the final two home matches of the regular season, hosting Minnesota State University Mankato and Concordia University, St. Paul on Nov. 1 and 3. Both matches will have the Beavers celebrating their alumni with the Alumni Weekend celebration on Friday and Alumni Tribute Game Sunday.
