Beavers shutout by No. 7 Mavericks

Bemidji State fell, 3-0, to Minnesota State Friday evening

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University soccer was shutout by No. 7 Minnesota State University Mankato Friday evening at home.

The Beavers kept things knotted at zero for the first 22 minutes of play until MSU's Addison Clarey grabbed the first goal of the evening at the 22:42 mark. MSU outshot BSU in the first 45 minutes, grabbing four shots against BSU's one. Total shots on goal for the evening ended with BSU tallying two and MSU marking seven.

The last 20 minutes of play created struggles for the Beavers with two additional goals from the Mavericks. In the 71st minute of play, Abigail Rieff grabbed the Maverick's second goal and Courtney Kovacs added her own just nine minutes later. BSU goalkeeper Sonia Alfieri was able to keep MSU at three goals, marking four saves on seven shots faced. Five Beavers tried their hands at grabbing goals with just two shots landing on goal, one attempt each from Katrina Barthelt and Lauren Hodny

BSU now looks to get back in the win column Sunday afternoon after going 0-2-3 in the past five matches. The Beavers host Concordia University, St. Paul Sunday at 1 p.m. for the program's annual Alumni Tribute Game. The team wraps up the regular season Thursday when they head to Duluth, Minn. to take on the University of Minnesota Bulldogs at 5 p.m.
