BEMIDJI, MINN. – Bemidji State University Women's Basketball takes on University of Minnesota Morris at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday for the 2024-25 Home Opener. The Beavers are 0-2 after a trip to Michigan, but hope to add their first win of the season against the Cougars.
Bemidji State Notes
- Bemidji State Women's Basketball comes into the week with a 0-2 record after dropping two games to Michigan Technological University and Northern Michigan University last Friday and Saturday
- The Beavers are currently led by forward Ella Giorgi who totaled 25 points and 12 rebounds in the season-opening series in Michigan. She shot at 50% from the field, 28.6% from the three-point line and 75% on free throws. Additionally, Giorgi tallied four blocks and two assists.
- Just behind Giorgi was Co-Captain Tieryn Plasch who marked 19 points with seven rebounds and four assists. She landed the most three-point shots of all BSU hoopers with five makes on 12 attempts for a shooting percentage of 41.7%.
- Sage Ganyo leads BSU with five assists so far this season. She also netted six points, one steal and six rebounds last weekend.
- As a whole, the team is shooting at 33 percent from the field, 27 percent at the arc and 78 percent from the free-throw line. They've collected 64 rebounds for an average of 32 per game and marked six steals.
- This Saturday, the Beavers will host Valley City State University at 12 p.m. in the final non-conference game before beginning Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play against University of Minnesota Crookston on Dec. 6. The game was originally scheduled for 2 p.m. but has been moved to noon due to scheduling conflicts.
Minnesota Morris Notes
- The Cougars are 0-4 this season after dropping four-straight games to College of St. Benedict, Hamline University, Concordia College and Dakota State University. They've played three games on the road and have not had a point differential of less than 22 points all season.
- Minnesota Morris is led in scoring by Maddy Grove who has totaled 49 points this season, averaging 12.3 per game. She shoots at .367 percent from the field, .364 percent at the arc and .692 at the free-throw line.
- The Cougars' leading rebounder is Claire Stark with 17 this season, seven offensive and 10 defensive.
- Following Tuesday's game, the Cougars host St. Olaf College Saturday and Trinity Bible College next Monday. The team begins Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play in January, holding just two games during the month of December.
