BEMIDJI, Minn. – No. 3 University of Minnesota scored three power-play goals in the first period en route to a 4-1 victory over the Bemidji State University Women's Hockey team Saturday afternoon. The Gophers earned the series split over the Beavers after a 2-1 victory Friday night.

Minnesota fifth-year senior forward Abbey Murphy struck twice while on the power play while Natalie Mlynkova also scored on the advantage and Emma Kreisz scored an even-strength goal.

The Gophers scored all four goals in the first period while freshman
Morgan Smith scored the Beavers' lone tally in the game at 13:27 of the second period for her second goal of the season.

Minnesota finished 3-for-4 while on the power play while the Beavers went 0-for-2 on their two opportunities.

Freshman netminder
Kaitlin Groess made 30 saves in the game to backstop the Beavers for fourth consecutive game but falls to 1-8-0 on the season.

The Beavers will have the weekend off for their first bye week of the season and return to action Nov. 15-16 for a Western Collegiate Hockey Association home series against University of St. Thomas.
