DULUTH, Minn. – In her first start of the 2023-24 season Bemidji State University Women's Hockey sophomore goaltender
Eva Filippova turned aside 37 shots by No. 4 University of Minnesota Duluth but the Bulldogs secured the Western Collegiate Hockey Association series sweep Saturday afternoon at AMSOIL Arena.

The Beavers fall to 3-12-1 (2-10-0 WCHA) with the loss while Filippova earns her first loss of the season (0-1-0).

Minnesota Duluth (8-5-1, 7-4-1 WCHA) opened the scoring with a power-play goal by Tova Henderson at 12:47 of the opening frame. Olivia Mobley extended UMD's lead to two at 8:18 of the second period with an even-strength goal. Bulldog goaltender Tindra Holm turned aside all 12 shots she faced to collect the shutout.

The Beavers will now rest up for the next two weekends and return to action Dec. 13-14 with a road trip to Mankato, Minn., to face Minnesota State University, Mankato.
