Men’s Basketball travels to Florida for dual matchup in Miami

The Beavers are set to take on the Buccaneers and Fighting Knights Tuesday and Wednesday at 5 p.m.

MIAMI, Fla. – Bemidji State University Men's Basketball travels to Miami, Fla. this week for games against Barry University and Lynn University on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. Both games are available for streaming on the Sunshine State Conference Network and tipoff at 5 p.m. CST.
 
Bemidji State Notes
  • Bemidji State is 3-1 so far this season after dropping the first game of the season to University of Central Missouri at the Central Region Challenge. They bounced back the next day to take a win over University of Arkansas Monticello, starting the current three-game win streak. 
  • The Beavers are led this season by newcomer Malang Athian who has marked 62 points in four games with a FG shooting percentage of .523.
  • Tate Olson holds strong to the top rebounding spot with two offensive grabs and 40 on defense. He has marked double the rebounds of his next closest teammate. 
  • Peyton Newbern and Jareon Mayo lead the assist game and steals, respectively. Newbern has grabbed 16 assists this season for an average of 4.0 per game. Mayo averages two steals per game for a four-game total of eight. 
  • Following this week in the Sunshine State, the Beavers will begin Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play with road trips to University of Minnesota Crookston and Minot State University Dec. 6 and 7, respectively.
 
Barry Notes
  • Barry University is 1-3 this season after dropping the first two games of the season and their most recent matchup with Sunshine State Conference opponent Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. 
  • The Buccaneers are led in scoring by Malik Stanley who averages 23.5 points per game. Their leading field goal and three-point shooters are Akeem Crandon (.572, 8-14) and Gavin Welch (.429, 3-7), respectively. Jimel Lane leads the team in rebounds per game and steals per game with 6.3 rebounds and 1.8 steals. 
 
Lynn Notes
  • Lynn University is 2-1 in their first season with Head Coach Bill Morosco. After starting the season with a win over St. Thomas University, they fell to Flagler College but went back into the win column against Eckerd College.
  • Leo Beath is the leading scorer for the Fighting Knights with 19.3 points per game. JP Baron has marked the best shooting percentages for the team with .857 from the field and .833 at the arc. Beath also leads the team in steals per game.  
 
When the Beavers begin NSIC play in December, all games will be available on the NSIC Network for free streaming. Tickets for all home games are on sale now and can be purchased in advance or at the door.
