WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Bemidji State University Softball team fell in two tight contests in its doubleheader at University of Central Missouri Friday evening in Warrensburg, Mo. The Beavers fell 3-0 in game one and then 2-1 in game two.
The Beavers were shutout in game one unable to score a run off three hits. Junior
Mariah Stevenson and sophomores
Grace Gumiela and
Morgan Benedict each recorded base hits while senior
Molly Houts drew two walks.
Senior
Stella Dolan pitched all six innings allowing just three runs (two earned) off five hits, one walk and struck out five but falls to 5-7 on the season.
In game two, the Beavers got out to an early lead over the Jennies (10-13) when Houts drove in a run with a base-hit up the middle in the first inning.
However, it would be the only run to come across the plate for the Beavers while the Jennies scored runs in the third and sixth innings to come away with the 2-1 victory.
Freshman
Danica Sarff was dominant in the circle pitching 5.1 innings allowing just two runs off five hits, walked five and struck out four. She falls to 1-3 on the season with the loss while Dolan pitched the final 0.2 innings.
The Beavers now turn around tomorrow for a doubleheader at Missouri Western State University beginning at Noon in St. Joseph, Mo.
