SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Bemidji State University Baseball team fell in its series opener 9-0 Friday evening against No. 23 Augustana University to resume Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Freshman
Beau Thoma recorded the lone hit for the Beavers (1-14, 0-5 NSIC), a single through the right side in the eighth inning.

Junior
Derek Hoffman earned the loss (0-3) pitching five innings and allowed seven runs off 10 hits and struck out six. Freshman
Carter Scanlon pitched the next 1.1 innings and held the Vikings (7-2, 1-0 NSIC) to one earned run and one hit but walked five. Sophomore
Sawyer Nendick pitched the final 1.2 innings and didn't allow a run while giving up just two hits and struck out one.

Vikings' Caleb Saari earned the complete game shutout going all nine innings and held the Beavers to one hit, one walk and struck out 17.

Bemidji State will look to bounce back tomorrow afternoon for a doubleheader against the Vikings with game one at 1:00 p.m.
