FAYETTE, Iowa – The Bemidji State University Women's Soccer team exploded for five goals en-route to a 5-1 victory over Upper Iowa University Sunday afternoon in Fayette, Iowa.
Junior
Katrina Barthelt scored in the second minute while also scoring in the 55
th for her third career two-goal match and first of the season. The Beavers scored three goals in the first half including two in the first 15 minutes after Barthelt's opening goal and freshman
Sydney Sutherland followed in the 15
th minute with her first collegiate goal.
Sophomore
Madeline Davey followed in the 42
nd minute to score her first of the season.
Following halftime, Barthelt scored her second of the game in the 55
th while freshman
Grace Schwoch capped-off the Beavers' scoring with her first collegiate goal as well in the 69
th minute.
Upper Iowa scored their lone goal in the match in the 87
th minute to end the Beavers' shutout.
Junior
Kenzie Harer and sophomore
Ella Wade each earned assists in the match, the first points of the season for the pair.
Graduate
Sonia Alfieri earned her second consecutive win and stopped three of the four shots she faced.
