BEMIDJI, Minn. – Missouri Western State University's Lauren Nylund scored in the 35
th minute to send the Griffons to a 1-0 season-opening victory over the Bemidji State University Women's Soccer team Friday evening at Chet Anderson Stadium.

The Griffons (1-0-0, 0-0-0 MIAA) out-shot the Beavers (0-1-0, 0-0-0 NSIC) 16-7 in the game including 4-1 in shots on goal.

Nylund scored her first marker of the season after heading home a free kick by Katelynn Rowland from 35-yards out.

Lauren Hodny and freshman
Madisen Fritel led the Beavers after each posted two shots while Hodny had the lone shot on goal for BSU.

In her first collegiate action, graduate
Sonia Alfieri made three saves but allowed the one goal.

Bemidji State will look to rebound Sunday afternoon when it hosts Dury University for another non-conference battle at Chet Anderson Stadium. The Beavers and Panthers are set to kick-off at Noon.
