BEMIDJI, Minn. — Bemidji State University Volleyball plays host to No. 18 University of Minnesota Duluth at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The match kicks off a three-home-match week for the Beavers that includes two matches Friday and Saturday.
The Beavers are coming off a 3-1 win over University of Minnesota Crookston last Saturday where they fell in the first set, 25-11, then came back to win 25-21, 25-19 and 25-20. The Beavers are 6-13 overall with a record of 3-8 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. They hold 13
th in the conference with three student-athletes,
Lily Riese,
Madison Tripp and
Kylie Struble, landing in the top 10 in the conference in six statistical categories. Riese is also 63
rd in the NCAA for kills per set and 74
th in total attacks.
Riese is the top points earner for BSU, marking a total of 264.5 this season with 3.73 per set. She has amassed 253 kills, two solo blocks and 19 assisted. In 19 matches,
Grace Hoffard has grabbed the top attacking percentage for BSU at .251 with 115 kills on 295 attempts. The Beavers' lead setter is freshman
Madison Tripp with 426 total assists, averaging 6 per set.
Ava Athman and
Kylie Struble lead the team at the service line, grabbing 22 and 20 aces each, respectively. Defensively, Struble also leads with 246 digs, averaging 3.46 per set. At the net,
Karley Dunham has found herself in on 53 total blocks, 11 solo and 42 assisted.
The Bulldogs sit at 16-2 overall with a 9-2 NSIC record. The team is currently on a three-match win streak after sweeping Minnesota State University Moorhead and University of Jamestown and going to five sets with Minnesota Crookston. They hold a .280 attack percentage with 14.1 kills per set.
Kylie Broten and Madeline Guetzkow are the leading scorers for the Bulldogs, amassing 238.5 and 233.5 points, respectfully. Broten dominates the attack game with a .450 attacking percentage, grabbing 204 kills with 371 attempts. She also leads the team with 57 blocks this season, taking 12 solo and 45 assisted. Ava Jones has claimed UMD's top setting spot with 768 assists, averaging 11.46 per set. Defensive specialist Madison Reed leads the team with 312 total digs, averaging 4.66 per set with a .933 receiving percentage.
Tuesday's match is available on the NSIC Network for streaming with tickets available in person and online at Hometown Ticketing. This weekend, the Beavers host Wayne State College Friday and Augustana University Saturday. Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items and hygiene products to Friday's match to help support Bucky's Pantry.
