BEMIDJI, Minn. — Bemidji State University Soccer secured a 1-0 victory over Concordia University, St. Paul on Friday at Chet Anderson Stadium. The decisive goal came in the second half, contributing to the home team's shutout performance.
The first half between Bemidji State and Concordia-St. Paul concluded with a scoreless draw. The Beavers initiated play aggressively, taking three corner kicks within the first two minutes and recording an early shot by
Emma Huelsnitz that went wide. Concordia responded with a series of corners and a shot by Jada Cannady that missed the target. Bemidji dominated in shots on goal, with attempts by
Katrina Barthelt and
Grace Kittel saved by Sydney Potter. Despite multiple attempts from both sides, the half ended without a goal, with Potter making several key saves for the Golden Bears.
The Beavers took the lead in the 71st minute with a goal from
Dayna Stocke, assisted by
Maggie Kramer and
Molly Burkstrand. Concordia had an opportunity to respond when Nicole Moore took a shot in the 72nd minute, but it went wide. Bemidji's
Madeline Davey had a shot saved by Potter in the 86th minute, as the Beavers maintained their advantage. The game concluded with Bemidji holding onto a 1-0 victory over the Golden Bears.
Stocke scored the game-winning goal for Bemidji, converting her only shot on goal. Kramer contributed with an assist, enhancing the team's offensive efforts. Burkstrand also added an assist, helping to set up scoring opportunities.
Sonia Alfieri posted a shutout in goal, playing the full 90 minutes and facing three shots without needing to make a save, as none were on target.
The Beavers hold a record of 9-2-3 overall and 7-1-3 in conference play. The Golden Bears stand at 8-3-3 overall and 5-3-3 in conference play. The Beavers host their annual Chery Smyth Memorial, Cancer Awareness Game this coming Sunday. BSU will face off against Winona State with a 1 p.m. kickoff from Chet Anderson Stadium.
