FARGO, N.D. – Bemidji State University Track and Field started its indoor season strong with three event wins and 22 personal bests in the Dakota Alumni Classic at North Dakota State University. As a team, the Beavers finished in third behind North Dakota State University and the University of North Dakota.
In the field events, the Beavers took home five personal bests with the freshman class earning their first collegiate marks. Starting strong for the Beavers,
Hannah Baker took seventh in the weight throw, boasting a new personal best of 15.50 meters.
Emma Green also set a personal best with a throw of 12.82 meters to take 16
th.
Kate Martin and
Josie Rystedt threw for their first collegiate marks with Martin hitting a 12.18 and Rystedt grabbing 10.61. In the shot put,
Trista Bilden led the team with a throw of 12.06, just 0.01 meter behind her previous best. In the pole vault,
Chloe Knott set a personal best of 3.10 meters, then followed it up with another personal best of 3.25 meters.
Kathryn Freymiller grabbed her first collegiate mark at 2.80 meters. Knott also grabbed a personal best in the long jump with a distance of 4.47. Rounding out the field events,
Allison LaVine took ninth in high jump at a height of 1.46 meters and
Makenna Frazier grabbed a personal best at 1.41 meters.
Action on the track was highlighted with a win from sophomore
Sophie Rylance in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:36.11. The Beavers also swept in the one mile and 3000-meter races, grabbing 47 additional points on top of Rylance's 10, putting the Beavers at 64 between track and field.
Callie Ressler grabbed a personal best in the 3000-meter run with a time of 12:08.64. In the women's 60-meter dash preliminary races, all five Bemidji State runners,
Makenna Frazier,
Jayden Wodarz,
Allison LaVine,
Chloe Knott and
Gabrielle Wilson grabbed personal bests. In the 200-meter dash, Wodarz added another best with a time of 28.11.
The Beavers now have a break until January 17 when they will travel to Superior, Wis. to compete in the Twin Ports Open. They will then compete in five meets ahead of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 27 and 28 in Mankato, Minn.
