BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Women's Tennis team fell in its 2025 season opener Friday afternoon falling 5-2 to University of Minnesota, Crookston in non-conference action at the Gillett Wellness Center in Bemidji, Minn. Both wins for the Beavers came in singles play with freshmen
Mia Leshem and
Britney Schommer earning victories.

Leshem earned her first collegiate win at No. 1 singles after defeating Daniela de Lucas Rivera by withdrawl. Schommer also earned her first collegiate singles win defeating Kaydance Hinn (6-3, 3-6, 10-5) at No. 6 singles. The Beavers also earned a doubles victory at No. 2 doubles with
Valesca Rodriguez and Ana Lucia Ibanez defeating Nadia Cases Mundet and Kavya Singh 7-6 but fell in No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.

The Beavers are now 1-1 on the season and continue non-conference play tomorrow with a doubleheader against College of St. Scholastica and University of Minnesota Duluth in Duluth, Minn. The Beavers battle the Saints beginning at 10:30 a.m., before a non-conference match against the Bulldogs at 2:30 p.m.
