MANKATO, Minn. – No. 17/14 Minnesota State University, Mankato bounced back with a 5-1 victory over the Bemidji State University Men's Hockey team in their regular season finale Saturday night at Mayo Clinic HSEC in Mankato, Minn.

The Beavers found out their travel plans for the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Mason Cup Quarterfinals and will travel to second-seed Augustana University as the seventh seed in the tournament. BSU begins postseason play against the Vikings Mar. 7-9 for the best-of-three quarterfinal series at Midco Arena in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Bemidji State finishes the 2024-25 regular season with a 13-16-5 record and 10-12-4 in league play and were seeded seventh in the CCHA Mason Cup Playoffs finishing with a .462 points percentage. Ferris State tied the Beavers in the standings but earned the tiebreaker by head-to-head wins.

 After a scoreless second period, Minnesota State (23-8-3, 18-5-3 CCHA) rallied for four goals in the second period including three separated by 3:34. Jordan Power started the scoring for the Mavericks at 4:49 of the frame and was followed by Evan Murr with a power-play goal 1:54 later. Luc Wilson then joined the scoring run with a goal 1:40 later for the three-goal lead.

The Mavericks added another power-play goal with 7:43 left in the period and skated into the second intermission leaders by four.

The Beavers stopped the Mavericks' scoring run quickly to start the third when
Jackson Jutting scored his 12
th goal of the season while on a Beaver power-play 1:55 into the final period.

The Beavers' red-hot power play has now scored eight power-play goals over the last six games and has produced a goal in five of the last six games.

However, BSU could only muster the lone tally and an empty-net goal from Luc Wilson with 2:08 to play sealed the 5-1 victory for the MacNaughton Cup champion Mavericks.

The Beavers now gear-up to start the CCHA Mason Cup Playoffs and face the Vikings for the first time in the postseason and first since their last regular season series in Sioux Falls Nov. 8-9. Times for the best-of-three quarterfinal series Mar. 7-9 will be announced at a later date.
