LIBERTY, Mo. – The Bemidji State University Baseball team fell 9-6 to William Jewell College Sunday afternoon and the Cardinals completed the four-game series sweep over the Beavers.
The Beavers recorded a season-high nine hits in the game and were led by junior
Noah Drusch and senior
Zach Evenson who each collected two hits in the game. Drusch paced the Beavers at the plate going 2-for-3 with a home run, double, two walks and one RBI. Evenson followed also hitting a home run and double and drove in two of the Beavers' six runs.
Freshman
Jack Feldman also picked up two RBI and hit a double finishing 1-for-4 at the plate while junior
Adrian Falcon drove in the final Beavers' run with a base hit. The Beavers also drew seven walks in the game including three by
Lawrence Lubchuk Jr.
On the mound, Evenson also started the game and pitched 3.0 innings in his first appearance of the season. He allowed two earned runs off two hits, walked six and struck out one and was credited with the loss.
Dylan Hedley came in to pitch 3.0 innings in relief and allowed three earned runs off three hits.
Matt Greiner finished the final two innings and didn't allow a run, allowed just one base runner and struck out three.
The Beavers' wrapped-up non-conference play with the game and will now begin Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action with a road trip to Augustana University Mar. 7-9. The Beaves and Vikings will play a four-game series at Ronken Field in Sioux Falls, S.D., beginning with a single game Friday at 3:00 p.m.
