BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University Baseball team fell in both games of its doubleheader at University of Minnesota, Crookston Wednesday afternoon at BSU Baseball Field. The Golden Eagles earned a pair of victories by scores of 24-3 and 7-4 over the Beavers in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action.
Game 1
Zach Evenson led the charge offensively with two hits in four at-bats and scored one run.
Noah Drusch made significant contributions with one hit, one run, and one RBI, securing a double in his four at-bats while fielding three assists at second base.
Adrian Falcon produced two hits and one RBI in three at-bats while playing left field, also managing two putouts.
Matt Filippi contributed offensively with one hit and one RBI and he also scored a run.
The Beavers' pitching staff faced challenges against the Golden Eagles.
Ty Schulte pitched 2/3 of an inning, allowing three earned runs on two hits and three walks while striking out one batter.
Cam McRoberts encountered difficulties, conceding five runs (four earned) on one hit, three walks, and a hit batter without recording an out.
Bret Inman provided stability by pitching four innings without allowing an earned run, giving up four hits, one walk, and striking out one, while inheriting three runners and not allowing any of them to score.
Game 2
Derek Hoffman delivered a strong start for the Beavers, pitching 2 innings without allowing a hit or a walk, striking out two batters while facing just six.
Beau Barry followed, allowing five runs on five hits over 3 innings, though only one run was earned, and he recorded four strikeouts.
Connor Donlin contributed 2 innings, surrendering two hits and one earned run while striking out one.
Cole Smith pitched one inning, giving up one hit, one earned run, and a home run while striking out one.
Matt Greiner closed with one inning, allowing one hit and striking out one, holding the Golden Eagles scoreless in his frame.
Offensively,
Dylan Hedley delivered a standout performance with a home run, driving in one run and scoring once.
Noah Drusch excelled again with two RBIs, a double, and a run scored, significantly contributing to the team's offensive efforts. Hoffman's efficient pitching was a highlight for the Beavers, making him a key contributor in this game as well.
The Beavers continue their seven-game home stand with a three-game series against Northern State University this weekend beginning Friday, April 18 with a doubleheader at the BSU Baseball Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
