BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University Men's Hockey head coach
Tom Serratore announced the 2025-26 leadership group for the Bemidji State Men's Hockey program Friday afternoon.
Kirklan Irey will captain the Beavers with
Vince Corcoran,
Adam Flammang and
Mitch Wolfe to serve as alternates.
Irey will wear the "C" as captain becoming the 64
th captain in the program's rich history dating back to its first captain Ed Johnson (1947-48). Corcoran, Flammang and Wolfe will each dawn the "A" as alternates on their green and white sweaters. Beaver captains are voted upon and selected by all returning players. All four captains for the Beavers will wear a letter for the first time in their collegiate careers.
Irey will wear the first letter of his collegiate career but captained the Sioux City Musketeers during their Clark Cup Championship run in 2021-22 in his last season of junior hockey. The senior from Bismarck, N.D., native, Irey Is a two-time Central Collegiate Hockey Scholar-Athlete and CCHA All-Academic Team selection. He has appeared in 98 career games for the Beavers amassing 43 points off 20 goals and 23 assists. The 2024-25 season was the best of his collegiate career leading the team with 24 points (11g-13a).
Corcoran previously served as a captain for the Wichita Falls Warriors of the North America Hockey League during his final season of junior hockey. The Plainfield, Ill., native and senior blueliner is a two-time CCHA Scholar-Athlete, CCHA All-Academic Team selection and AHCA/Krampade All-American Scholar. Corcoran has appeared in 84 career games for the green and white totaling 23 career points off three goals and 20 assists. Last season, he totaled nine points (1g-8a) and led the team with a +5 rating on the ice.
Prior to his junior hockey career, Flammang served as a two-time captain for the St. Michael-Albertville High School boys hockey team helping guide the Knights to the 2018 Class AA Minnesota State Tournament. He is a two-time CCHA Scholar-Athlete and CCHA All-Academic Team selection. He has appeared in 108 career games for Serratore's Beavers amassing 43 career points off 19 goals and 24 assists including 37 points over the last two seasons. He totaled 18 points (5g-13) in 2024-25 and led BSU forwards blocking 25 shots.
Wolfe previously served as an alternate captain for the Andover High School boys hockey team in 2019-20. He is a two-time CCHA All-Academic Team selection. Hailing from Andover, Minn., the senior defenseman has appeared in 103 career games for the Beavers totaling 21 career points off three goals and 18 assists all of which came in the last two seasons. In 2024-25, Wolfe totaled eight points and scored a career high two goals and was second on the team with 67 blocks while also leading the Beavers' blueline with 68 shots on goal.
The Beavers begin their 2025-26 season Oct. 3-4 when they travel to Anchorage, Alaska for a series against University of Alaska Anchorage. BSU then hosts its home opener Oct. 10 to begin a home-and-home series with regional rival St. Cloud State University.
