BEMIDJI, Minn. — Bemidji State University Men's Basketball junior guard,
John Pecarich, was named this week's Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference North Division Player off the week after a record-breaking performance last weekend.
Pecarich set three program records against Concordia University, St. Paul Friday evening, including the team's single-game points scored (47) and free-throw percentage (1.000, 12-12), while tying for three-point shots made (9). The previous scoring record was set at 45 by Derek Thompson in 2021.
Pecarich played in 78:38 minutes for BSU during the two-game series, the second of which against Winona State University ended in overtime. He shot .550 percent from the field with 22 makes on 40 attempts and .600 from the arc with 15 made shots on 25 attempts. From the free-throw line, he finished the weekend at a perfect 1.000 percent, going 14-14. Under the basket, Pecarich grabbed seven rebounds, tying for second on the team, including two offensive boards. He added three assists, a block and four steals.
The Beavers now prepare for a four-game road trip that begins at Augustana University Friday evening before heading to Wayne State College Saturday. The following week they will travel to Minot State University and the University of Mary. When BSU returns home, they will play a pair of games at the Sanford Center in Bemidji for the 218 Showcase.
