BEMIDJI, Minn. — Bemidji State University plays host to Concordia University, St. Paul and Winona State University Friday and Saturday at the BSU Gymnasium. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday and 5:30 p.m. Saturday following the women's basketball games.
In partnership with the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, the Beavers will be recognizing "It's A Slam Dunk, Don't Drive Drunk" on Friday. Fans are encouraged to stop at the BSU Student Athlete Advisory Committee's table and sign the pledge to not drive intoxicated. Those that sign the pledge will be entered to win a rideshare gift card at halftime.
On Saturday, the Beavers are excited to welcome Beaver Radio Network Kids Club members to the game as they celebrate BRN Kids Club Night! Kids Club members will receive free admission to the games with a valid Kids Club badge. Members will also receive a free pin for their lanyards thanks to Affinity Plus.
Bemidji State Notes
- The Beavers enter the weekend on a six-game losing streak, not winning a game since Dec. 18 against University of Mary. Last weekend, the Beavers fell to St. Cloud State University, 66-55, and Minnesota State University, Mankato, 98-83.
- BSU ranks sixth in the Northern division of the NSIC with a 3-9 conference record, 6-11 overall. The team sits 14th in the overall conference rankings, needing to move up two spots to hold a spot in the NSIC tournament in five weeks. The top 12 programs will make their ways into the tournament, beginning with the first round, at campus sites, on Feb. 25.
- John Pecarich leads the team with 19.7 points per game, totaling 335 this season. He leads the team from the arc with a .388 shooting percentage. Pecarich ranks 16th in the NCAA and first in the NSIC for three-point attempts and threes per game, ranking 13th in the NCAA for the latter. Additionally, he is 15th in the NCAA for total three-point field goals made with 54 this season.
- Leading from inside the arc and under the rim, Henry Shannon III is averaging .559 from the field and 8.7 rebounds per game. He leads the team in total blocks and blocks per game, taking 13th in the NCAA for total blocks and 16th in blocks per game.
- The Beavers will head back on the road over the next two weekends for four games, starting with Augustana University and Wayne State College. They will finish the trip at Minot State University and University of Mary.
Concordia-St. Paul Notes
- Concordia-St. Paul takes fourth in the NSIC and in the Southern division with a conference record of 7-5 and 12-6 overall. The Golden Bears are currently on a four-game win streak which began at the start of the month.
- Ben Kopetzki leads the team in points (22.1/gm), field-goal shooting (.434 percent), three-point shooting (.380 percent) and free-throw shooting (.879 percent). He leads the NSIC in FG attempts, points and points per game. Kopetzki is ranked in the top 10 in the NCAA for the three categories as well.
Winona State Notes
- The Warriors take up the last place in the South division, but sit one spot ahead of Bemidji State in the overall rankings, with an overall record of 5-12 and conference record of 4-8. WSU heads to Duluth, Minn. Friday to take on the University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs prior to traveling to BSU.
- Ryan Heise leads the scoring efforts for WSU with 12.8 points per game, followed closely by Tyler Mason at 12.6. Heise leads from inside the arc with a .519 shooting percentage while Mason leads beyond it at .357 percent. Heise also leads under the rim with 5.2 rebounds per game.
