GOLDEN, Colo. – Bemidji State University sophomore guard Maggie Gernbacher (Bloomington, Minn.) continues to be the hot hand for BSU on its current road trip pouring in a game-high 28 points Wednesday in Golden, Colo. en rout to equaling her own school record for three-point field goals in a single game with seven, but it was not enough as Colorado School of Mines dominated the glass pulling down a pair of rebounds for every one the Beavers managed (44-22) to protect their home court with a 68-61 victory.

Gernbacher's performance was nothing less than spectacular. She was 9-of-13 (.962) from the field and shot a blistering 7-of-9 (.778) from beyond the three-point arc, accounting for 45.6 percent of the Bemidji State offense.

The Beavers trailed early as the Orediggers scored first and matched BSU basket for basket through the first five minutes.

BSU would take its first lead of the game when Gernbacher was fouled on her first three-point attempt of the night. She would drain all three of her free-throws to put BSU up 7-5.

The teams mirrored each other during the final 14 minutes of the half as the score was tied on five occasions. But as the clock neared nine minutes it was Gernbacher time. She gave the Beavers the lead for the third time of the game on a three-pointer firing the BSU offensive attack and going on to score 12 consecutive points for BSU on 4-of-4 from downtown. Serena Nalls (St. Paul, Minn.) continued the BSU trend knocking down a trey with 4:14 to play in the half to cap off a 15-6 Beaver run stretching the BSU advantage to 28-19 with just over four minutes before the halftime break.

CSP would comeback however, scoring the final 10 points of the half taking a 29-28 lead into the break.

Gernbacher did her best to kick-start the BSU offense nailing a three just seconds into the second half. But anything BSU could muster, the Orediggers would mirror. The score was tied five more times during the first ten minutes of the half. BSU would hold the lead as late as with 8:47 remaining (47-45), but CSM would go on to score the next six points and outscore the Beavers 16-7 in the final eight minutes of the game to walk out of the Volk Gymnasium with a 68-61 victory.

BSU shot 40.7 (22-54) and was led by Gernbacher's 28 points. Freshmen Stephanie Peterson (Bismarck, N.D.) and Karlee Simonson (Rockford, Minn.) teamed up to pace the Beavers grabbing five boards a piece while Allison Sanderberg (Duluth, Minn.) led BSU with three assists.

Ashley Gronewoller recorded a double-double hauling in a game-high 12 rebounds for Mines while matching Kristin Horkey's 14 points for the team-high.

The loss drops the Beavers to 2-4 overall. The Beavers will be in action again Friday and Saturday as they participate in the Coors Classic. Dec. 3 the team will face a Metro State in a 8:00 p.m. (CST) tip-off while its is scheduled to battle Regis at 8:00 p.m. Dec. 4th.
