MARQUETTE, Mich.
-- The Bemidji State University men’s basketball team fell to
Northern Michigan University 84-75 in a nonconference game to close out
the 2009 calendar year. Senior Seth Haake (G, Eden Prairie, Minn.) scored a season-high 27 points.
The
Beavers (5-5, 2-2 NSIC) held a 38-35 lead at halftime, thanks to 19
points from Haake. BSU earned a seven point lead at the 13:54 mark of
the second half with the score standing at 51-44. The Wildcats then
went on a 7-0 run to tie the game at the 11:31 mark. NMU kept rolling
and took a 10 point lead at 64-54 with 6:46 on the clock. The home team
never looked back on its way to a nine point win.
Freshman Lance Rongstad (G/F, Eleva, Wis.) scored 13 points and added eight rebounds. Sophomore guard Bryce Tesdahl (Crosby, Minn.) scored 11 points, added seven rebounds and had five assists.
BSU returns to Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play as it hosts Augustana College Jan. 2 at 6 p.m.
Bemidji State University, located in Bemidji, Minn., is an NCAA
Division II institution and a member of the Northern Sun
Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
