- The Bemidji State University women's hockey team shut out
the No. 2-ranked University of Wisconsin Badgers deep into the second
period, but three goals later by the best scoring team in the country
was too much for the Beavers as they fell 3-0 Friday afternoon at Kohl
Center.

Bemidji
State (6-22-5, 3-21-3-2 WCHA) was outshot 38-10, and both teams went
0-for-4 on the power play. Wisconsin (26-2-5, 20-2-5-3 WCHA) held BSU
to its lowest shot output of the season.
The
Beavers held the Badgers scoreless throughout the first period, and
were about to escape the second with another shutout period until
Brittany Haverstock found the back of the net with just 59 seconds
remaining. Erika Lawler and Angie Keseley assisted on the goal.
The
road green and white played hard in the third, but Anne Dronen scored
an unassisted goal 6:08 into the frame and Brooke Ammerman topped off
the scoring 18:08 into the period with assists to Jasmine Giles and
Olivia Jakiel.
BSU netminder Zuzana Tomcikova
(Fr., Bratislava, Slovakia) had 35 saves and allowed the three goals to
fall to 5-19-4 on the season, while UW’s Jessie Vetter saved 10
and improved to 25-2-5.
Bemidji State will
play its final regular season game Saturday against the Badgers and the
puck will drop at 2:07 p.m. at the Kohl Center.
