TUCSON, Ariz. – Bemidji State University baseball took on Augustana College in a doubleheader Thursday evening from the Kino Sports Complex where it fell in both games 19-1 and 14-0.

A scoreless game in game one would last until the third inning when Augustana jumped out to a 13-0 lead on the Beavers. The inning included two doubles and three singles with Lucas Barry and Marcus O’Neill each posting a double. 

The Vikings extended their lead in the fourth inning over BSU, putting up another six runs as Jack Goihl started the scoring with a two RBI single. Alex Fink doubled to center field for two runs, Kris Ashland tripled for one and a groundout by Lucas Wilber would make it a 19-0 game.

Bemidji State charted its lone run in the fifth inning as Mason Bellew tripled to left field and scored on a throwing error by the left fielder for a 19-1 game. Bellew finished game one going 2-for-3 and one RBI to lead the squad.

Pitcher of record in game one was Mark Kosmalski as he pitched 2.1 innings of work. Also seeing action was Parker Havel for 0.2 and Cody Benson for three innings.

In game two, Augustana got out to a 4-0 lead in the second and continued to push past the Beavers with two runs in the fourth, three runs in the fifth and sixth and sealed the deal with two runs in the seventh for a 14-0 victory.

Patrick Fiala led the Vikings going 4-for-5, including a homerun, triple and a double. Leading the Beavers in game two was Bellew as he went 2-for-2. 

On the mound for the Beavers was Jack Stigman, earning the loss in four innings of work, while Jesse Katz and Logan Riedel pitched two and one innings, respectively.

Bemidji State, now 3-10 overall, will be back in action Friday, March 13 to take on St. Cloud State University in Tucson, Ariz. First pitch is set to start at 2:30 p.m. CT from the Kino Sports Complex. The Vikings are now 2-6 on the season with the sweep.
