ST. PAUL, Minn. – Bemidji State University Baseball senior infielder
Noah Drusch became the program's single-season home run record holder Friday afternoon after hitting his 12
th and 13
th home runs of the season in the Beavers' doubleheader at Concordia University-St. Paul. Drusch surpasses Joe Burgess' previous record of 12 set in 1997, a 29-year separation between the two records. However, Bemidji State did not fare well in the doubleheader falling to the Golden Bears 10–2 in the first game and 11–7 in the second.
In the opening game, Bemidji State scored two runs, scoring in the third and seventh innings, but the Golden Bears capitalized late, collecting nine runs from the third to fifth innings. Despite Bemidji State's six strikeouts, CSP's offense was powered by four home runs, which secured their victory.
Jack Feldman contributed with one hit and one stolen base, while
Beau Thoma added a double and recorded one RBI.
Adrian Falcon scored a run and had a hit, along with a stolen base, and
Chris Koscielniak delivered a hit and one RBI.
On the mound,
Andrew Murphy pitched four innings, allowing seven earned runs on six hits, including three home runs, while striking out four and walking two.
Cayden Cincis followed with an inning of relief, conceding three runs on three hits and a walk, with one strikeout.
Bret Inman closed the game for Bemidji State, delivering a scoreless inning with one strikeout.
The game flow saw the Golden Bears take an early lead with a solo home run by in the second inning. Bemidji State responded in the third with
Adrian Falcon's single leading to Thoma's double, leveling the score at 1-1. However, a three-run homer quickly put CSP back in control at 4-1. The Golden Bears continued to extend their lead with additional runs throughout the fourth and fifth innings, culminating in a 10-1 advantage. Bemidji State's final run came in the seventh when
Nash Rubins scored after a throwing error, resulting in a final score of 10–2.
In game two, Bemidji State started strong with three runs in the second inning but ultimately fell 11-7.
Noah Drusch shone with two home runs and six RBIs, breaking the single-season home run record in the game while
Nash Rubins contributed two runs, one RBI, a double, and a walk.
Matt Filippi added two runs after being hit by a pitch, and
Hunter Hyden scored once and hit a double.
Castle Huggard began on the mound and pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing seven hits and eight runs, seven of which were earned, alongside striking out a career-high seven batters.
Connor Donlin struggled in relief, conceding three earned runs without recording an out. However,
Bret Inman and
Devon Cook closed the game effectively, each pitching an inning without allowing a hit.
The second game saw Concordia-St. Paul take an early 2-0 lead. Bemidji State answered in the second with Drusch's first three-run homer of the game, briefly giving them a 3-2 lead. The Golden Bears tied it in the third with a solo shot. The key moment came in the sixth inning, where Concordia surged with an eight-run inning, leading 11-3. Bemidji State rallied in the ninth, with Hyden's double followed by Rubins' RBI double and Drusch's second three-run homer, but fell short, finishing the game at 11-7.
Bemidji State will seek redemption in their next matchup against Concordia-St. Paul, as the 2026 season closes tomorrow afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for Noon for a nine-inning affair.
