Beavers split day one in Clermont, Fla.

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Bemidji State University softball team split its opening day at the Spring Break Tournament in Clermont, Fla., Saturday. The Beavers (2-6) defeated Judson University, 1-0 to begin the day but fell to Concordia University (Mich.), 5-0 in game two.

Bemidji State 1, Judson 0
Freshman pitcher Stephi Dullum held the Eagles to just two hits over seven innings to lead the BSU softball team to a 1-0 win in game one. Dullum struck out six batters after pitching all seven innings in the game and walked just one for the complete game shutout. Junior Makayla Pagel drove in the game-winning run in the top of the third off of an RBI single. The Beavers were held to just four hits in the game including two from Pagel.

Concordia (Mich.) 5, Bemidji State 0
The Beavers’ bats struggled in game two and were held to just two hits over seven innings as the Beavers fell to the Cardinals, 5-0. Sophomore Olivia Tucker held the Cardinals to just two runs over five innings but a three-run sixth inning propelled Concordia to the victory.

Bemidji State continues play in the spring break tournament tomorrow by facing Northwood University and Post University at 1:30 and 6 p.m.
