Softball hires Cody Cox as Assistant Coach

Former MSUM volunteer assistant moves to Beaver coaching staff

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University Softball Head Coach Jordan Petersen has announced the hiring of Cody Cox as her assistant coach.

Cox joins the Beaver coaching staff after spending the past two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at Minnesota State University Moorhead. During his time with the Dragons, he worked primarily with the catchers while also assisting with the team's pitchers, hitters and infielders. He was responsible for preparing scouting reports on opponents and served as a base coach during games.

"As we continue building the future of Beaver Softball, it was important to find someone who shares our vision for developing successful student-athletes and a championship culture," said Petersen. "Cody brings valuable experience, a tireless work ethic and an enthusiasm for teaching the game that will positively impact our program from day one."

Prior to entering collegiate coaching, Cox spent more than five years with Dick's Sporting Goods, most recently serving as an assistant store manager after working his way up through multiple leadership positions.

A former collegiate pitcher, Cox played at California State University San Marcos from 2016-18 where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics.
