Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

BEMIDJI, Minn. (BSU Baseball Field) -- The Bemidji State University baseball program sent off its seven senior student-athletes in fashion with a win in the doubleheader finale against St. Cloud State University Saturday afternoon. Freshmen Parker Borg and Caleb Carlson helped secure the win for the seniors with RBI knocks in a 7-3 win at BSU Baseball Field for the Beavers.

Game One – L, 13-1
St. Cloud State controlled the opening game of the series early with runs scored in each of the first four innings and a four-run inning in the sixth. Bemidji State recorded just two hits on the day, both by senior outfielder Connor McNallan including a single in the sixth inning to set up BSU’s lone run of the day. Sophomore catcher Isaiah Grancorvitz brought in sophomore Drake Wawro, who opened the inning with a leadoff walk, on a sacrifice fly.

Sophomore Alec Meyer (1-5) took the loss after going two innings with one strikeout and eight hits allowed. Junior Tommy Geisenhof threw 2.0 innings of work with one strikeout and one earned run allowed.

Game Two – W, 7-3
The Beavers were able to strike first during an early pitching duel in game two, as freshman Austin Weisz and McNallan led off the third inning with back-to-back singles. Wawro recorded an RBI ground out following a loaded bases opportunity to put BSU ahead, 1-0.

The Huskies picked up their first lead of the game in the top of the fifth inning as three hits among the top four batters brought in two runs. Sophomore Jake Olson, who had allowed stranded four base runners through the first four innings, kept two runners on base in the fifth to limit the damage and hold BSU’s deficit at 2-1.

Freshman Matt Kummet came through in the bottom of the fifth inning to tie the game as he brought in freshman Caleb Carlson with his first hit of the game. Carlson led off the inning with a single that led to a 2-2 score after the fifth inning. Two-out hitting in the sixth allowed BSU to regain the lead as Carlson provided the go-ahead RBI hit, a triple to the right field corner to drive in McNallan and sophomore Noah Boser.

Freshman Parker Borg added his own two-RBI hit in the bottom of the seventh inning, sending his sixth home run of the season out of the park, to give BSU a 6-2 lead. Weisz added one more run in the seventh inning with his first RBI of the day to give BSU seven runs, which would last through the ninth to secure a Beavers win.

Olson (3-3) took the win after throwing 6.0 innings with two runs allowed. Borg finished the day with one home run for two RBIs while four Beavers totaled multiple hits. Carlson tied Borg for the team high with two RBIs on his triple in the bottom of the sixth inning.
