Box Score OMAHA, Neb. (Westside High School) -- Sophomore outfielder Wyatt White provided the Bemidji State University baseball team’s offense Sunday afternoon with its lone hits of the game and one run batted in during a 13-1 loss to (RV) Augustana University. The Beavers fall to 1-13 overall with an 0-3 mark in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference after the conference-opening weekend against the Vikings.
Different from a day ago, Bemidji State found it difficult to score while totaling just two hits in the final game of the series. Sophomore right fielder Wyatt White accounted for both of BSU’s two hits on the day in the fifth and seventh innings. White broke a no-hitter in the fifth inning and helped send senior designated hitter Drake Wawro home in the seventh inning with a double to center field in the seventh inning.
The Vikings broke the game open in the fourth inning with eight runs on eight hits, including three runs with no outs and five with one out. Augustana extended the lead to 13-0 in the sixth inning with an RBI ground out, a two-RBI inside the park home run, and a two-RBI single through the left side.
Sophomore pitcher Jackson Back (0-2) started the game and threw 4.0 innings with three earned runs and two walks allowed with two strikeouts. White went 2-of-3 from the plate with one RBI and one double while Wawro reached base on a walk.
Bemidji State continues the beginning of the NSIC schedule with a doubleheader at 12 p.m. Wednesday at Wayne State College. The date and time may change due to weather and field conditions.
