Box Score 2 BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University softball team fell in both games of its doubleheader against No. 18 Minnesota State University, Mankato Saturday afternoon. The Beavers (9-25, 5-15 NSIC) fell in game one to the Mavericks (25-7, 15-5 NSIC) 4-0 in game one and the 6-0 in game two
Bemidji state starting pitcher junior Kaidron McClafferty allowed just four runs including just two through the games' first five innings but Minnesota State's Mackenzie Ward held the Beavers to just one hit and struck out 19 to earn the complete game shutout.
McClafferty allowed 10 hits, one walk and picked up two strikeouts to fall to 0-7 on the season while junior Kora Martin recorded the Beavers' lone hit in the game after coming into pinch hit in the seventh inning.
Bemidji State earned five hits in game two but were out-hit 12-5 by the Mavericks who earned the sweep with a 6-0 victory in game two. Senior Stephi Dullum pitched five innings for the Beavers and allowed six runs (three earned) off of eight hits and had three strikeouts while freshman Stella Dolan pitched two innings in relief and also had three strikeouts.
Senior Lexi Derrick and sophomore Emmarie Yeager each recorded two hits in the game for the Beavers while junior Elizabeth Hansen tallied the Beavers' other hit.
Dullum picked up the loss in the circle for BSU and falls to 6-7 on the season while Minnesota State's McKayla Armbruster earned the win after allowed four hits, 0 runs and earned six strikeouts.
Bemidji State concludes its six-game homestand tomorrow afternoon and will host Concordia University-St. Paul at Noon and 2 p.m.
